Yash Bharti award to Abhishek Bachchan creates controversy in UP

The Uttar Pradesh government has given the Yash Bharati Samman to Abhishek Bachchan. The award is the state’s highest award in the field of literature and culture. Abhisek is the fourth person in the Bachchan family who got this award.

The award has become center-point of a political debate. Other parties’ leaders have blamed Mulayam Singh to use this prestigious award for political gain. They said that it would be better if the government had selected some poet, artist or writer from the state for this award.
