Rahul and his father’s secretary Bibek Maitra fell ill after a party in Delhi on June 1. Maitra died later. Rahul was booked under several sections of the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

Police have arrested three Nigerian nationals from the city following an interrogation of Sahil Zaroo, who allegedly procured drugs for the late BJP leader Pramod Mahajan's son Rahul and his aide Vivek Moitra, and recovered some narcotics from their possession.Two of the Nigerians, going by the nick names David and Tobu respectively, were arrested from Munirka area of south-west Delhi while another was arrested from a nearby place, police said. Some drugs were also recovered from their possession, they said.
A Delhi Police team has started questioning Rahul Mahajan, the son of the late BJP leader Pramod Mhajan. Rahul has been shifted out of the intensive care unit of the hospital, sources said. The police are also questioning Apollo hospital doctors involved with Rahul's treatment, and aim to acquire as much detail as possible about the latter's present medical condition.

The Patiala House Court hear the bail petition of Rahul Mahajan, who spent his first night in Tihar jail after his judicial custody extended till June 22. Rahul was on Thursday remanded to 14 days judicial custody following his alleged drug abuse by the Patiala House Court. The court rejected the demand of Delhi Police to extend Rahul's police remand for further interrogation and directed the police to provide proper treatment to Rahul.
He was granted bail submitting a bond of Rs 2 lakh and a surety for the same amount after the court observed that there was no strong evidence to infer his involvement in drug trafficking. The court also asked Mahajan not to leave Delhi without its permission till the chargesheet against him was filed.
The Delhi Police questioned several lady doctors and employees of the Indraprastha Apollo Hospital here in connection with the Rahul Mahajan drug episode case.
A police team headed by Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) B B Choudhary also questioned Raji Chandru, a close associate of Apollo Group's Chairman Dr. Prathap C. Reddy, for allegedly footing the hospital expenses of Rahul and Bibek Moitra.
A local court deferred till July 10 its decision on Rahul Mahajan's plea for permission to go to Mumbai. Additional Sessions Judge S N Gupta reserved the order on Mahajan's application after hearing arguments both from prosecution and defence sides.
