Indian Idol Season 5: The financial controversy

Anu Malik who is a judge on season five of Indian Idol, is up in arms against the channel airing the show and has threatened to consider his options. Anu is peeved that a co-judge, singer Sunidhi Chauhan, isn’t only being given more prominence in the publicity campaign, she’s also being paid more than him.
Anu has been a judge on the show since it was launched while Sunidhi joined it only this season.

A source says, “There’s no doubt that Sunidhi is being promoted more than Anu, but that’s because the channel feels she gets them more eyeballs. And yes, she is paid more than Anu – Sunidhi gets around Rs 7.5 lakh per episode while Anu gets about Rs 5 lakh. This has really irritated Anu.”
Matters have reached a head now with Anu just not cooperating with the show producers. “He is acting difficult with them. Anu refused to attend the press conference of Indian Idol 5 that was scheduled in Delhi two days ago. He is also not taking calls from the channel.
