George W. Bush's Shoe-Dodging Bonanza
Monday, December 15, 2008
A surprise visit by US President George Bush to Iraq has been overshadowed by an incident in which two shoes were thrown at him during a news conference. An Iraqi journalist was wrestled to the floor by security guards after he called Mr Bush "a dog" and threw his footwear, just missing the president.

There has never been a better time for the Presidency of Barack Obama. With the antics of George W. Bush winding down with a final whirlwind tour of the middle east (which will cost the American tax payers millions of dollars), it appears that it took one bold Iraqi journalist to do what millions of Americans (heck, half the world!) wanted to do for years but no one had the courage to carry out the mission throw in the shoe, just as the cow-poke president is finally (reluctantly) throwing in the towel.
Arab newspapers and websites gathered thousands of responses to the incident of the Iraqi journalist who threw his shoes at President George W. Bush during a press conference.
For the war-beaten orphans of the northern Iraqi city of Tikrit, this big old shoe fits. A huge sculpture of the footwear hurled at President Bush in December during a trip to Iraq has been unveiled in a ceremony at the Tikrit Orphanage complex.
The Iraqi journalist who threw his shoes at former President George W. Bush has been sentenced to three years in prison. Muntandher al-Zaidi also called Bush a "dog" during the ex-president's December 14 joint news conference in Baghdad with Iraqi President Nouri al-Maliki, and the defendant's family shouted the same epithet at judges following the sentencing. Muntandher says he was tortured in custody
