Former Haryana deputy chief minister Chander Mohan’s (now Chand Mohammed) second wife Wednesday claimed that her husband has been “kidnapped”.Fiza, a city lawyer who was Anuradha Bali before she and Chander Mohan converted to Islam to get married, told reporters here that her husband was missing since Wednesday morning.
She claimed that a few people came to meet Chand Mohammed at their residence in Sector 48 here and later forcibly took him away in a vehicle.
“I have not been able to communicate with him since then. I am complaining to the police. They might cause him harm or even kill him,” a weeping Fiza said.
Fiza, a lawyer herself, had filed a criminal complaint with Punjab Police against Chander Mohan in which she accused him of rape, defamation, cheating and of hurting her religious sentiments.
It was a divorce notice from London. Former Haryana deputy chief minister Chander Mohan alias Chand Mohammed sent a terse “talaq, talaq, talaq” mobile SMS to estranged second wife Fiza and called her up to repeat the message - adding another twist to their controversial marriage.
“I got an SMS from Chand on my mobile phone on Friday in which he had written ‘talaq’ three times. Immediately after that, I got a call from him and he reiterated that he has given talaq to me,” Fiza told media persons at her residence Saturday.
Fiza, the estranged wife of former Haryana deputy chief minister Chander Mohan alias Chand Mohammed, declared here Friday that she would “ruin” Chand’s life.
“I am not going to spare him in any condition and I would prove to be the black chapter of his life. It is just the start of terrible days ahead for Chand and I would certainly ruin his life,” an angry Fiza told reporters at her house. She added, “He should see the photograph of Kali (Hindu goddess Kali) every morning. In the way she eliminated sins from the earth, I would also teach him a good lesson.”
The last word in the Chand-Fiza love story is yet to be heard. Former Haryana deputy chief minister Chander Mohan alias Chand Mohammed Sunday did another volte-face and returned to Anuradha Bali alias Fiza after having secretly married her illegally and then controversially “divorcing” her.
Chander Mohan arrived at her residence in Mohali town, adjoining Chandigarh, and apologised to her.
“I have apologised to her. I have not divorced her,” Chander Mohan, donning a new crew-cut and wearing a white tee, told reporters at her residence.
The much talked about Chand-Fiza love saga took a fresh twist Tuesday with the former Haryana deputy chief minister returning to both Hinduism and his original name of Chander Mohan. This raised a question mark over the status of his second wife, Anuradha Bali, who had changed her name to Fiza before their marriage.
Chander Mohan visited a temple in the Haryana’s Hisar town, some 275 km from here, and returned to Hinduism in the presence of religious leaders.
“I apologized before my community and I have realized that marrying Fiza was the biggest mistake of his life,” Chander Mohan said after re-adopting the Hindu religion.
Anuradha Bali aka Fiza, who converted to Islam to marry former Haryana deputy chief minister Chander Mohan, Friday said she would move court against her estranged husband for violating marriage laws.
“After our ‘nikah’ (Muslim marriage) last year, Chander Mohan also married me according to Hindu rituals as he wanted to see himself dressed up like a Hindu groom. This is an offence as per Hindu Marriage Act, which says that nobody can marry second time and it amounts to rape,” said Fiza, while addressing reporters at her residence here, Friday.
“Being a lawyer, I was aware about this law but I abided by his directions as I wanted to behave like a decent wife. However, he ditched me and spoiled my life. I am not going to spare him and I will move court to teach him a lesson,” she said.
