Ash-Priyanka IIFA award controversy

Aishwarya Rai had won all the best actress awards at the popular award functions held before and it came as quite a surprise when for the IIFA, Priyanka Chopra got the best actress award for Fashion.

Priyanka bore the insult silently but Bhandarkar was livid at the remark.
Madhur Bhandarkar made his displeasure clear by saying, “I’m shocked by what Ashutosh had to say. We’re friends and I admire his work. More than us, our wives are very close friends. If he felt this way he should’ve shared it with me and Priyanka, not spoilt the golden moment for her on stage. Priyanka got every popular award. Doesn’t that prove she deserves it?”
Jaya Bachchan also stood up for daughter-in-law saying,”The fact is, I suggested he bring up the question on stage at IIFA. We were discussing why Aishwarya has not been given any award for ‘Jodhaa Akbar’ and I suggested Ashutosh bring up the matter,” Mrs. Bachchan is quoted as saying in a media report.
“For all I know she must be really good in Fashion. I have not seen it. But I’ve seen Priyanka’s work in Dostana and liked it. She’s undoubtedly a good actress,” Jaya told.
“I don’t have any objection to her winning the award at IIFA. But I wonder why Aishwarya’s fine performance was ignored. I think she and the Jodhaa Akbar cinematographer Kiran Deohans richly deserved recognition for their work,” she added.
Director Ashutosh Gowariker made a very insulting remark on Priyanka Chopra at IIFA award function.
According to sources, when Ashutosh Gowariker was called on stage to collect the best director award for ‘Jodhaa Akbar’, he pompously said, “
Priyanka I Love You, but I don`t know how you got the award for Best Actress when Aishwarya was also nominated in the same category for ‘Jodhaa Akbar’”.
