Congress party is not happy at Big B's presence

The fact is that the Congress party is not happy at his presence at the function, as he is the brand ambassador of BJP-ruled Gujarat and not in good terms with the Gandhi family. Chief Minister Ashok Chavan has expressed his displeasure stating that adequate care should have been taken while sending invitations, as it is a government function. Congress workers claim that they were not aware that Amitabh would attend the function, as his name was not in the invitation list. However, Public Undertakings Minister Jaidutt Kshirsagar, who is also chairperson of the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation, said that icons like Bachchan and Sachin Tendulkar were required at the inauguration of this iconic bridge.
